Bettas take a much longer trip from the Far East to North America in a plastic bag not much bigger than a tea bag which is filled with 99% air and only a half teaspoon of water. Transport is not the problem. Regulations are. You have to contact the embassies of all the countries you would be in during your trip including any stopover. You would have to pay for inspections by trained customs agents who can identify your pet. You would have to enter the county by only certain airports that offer these services, usually only one or two in a country. You would have to pay for required permits. And then after following all the rules and paying for all the permits and extra services, things can go wrong. You might encounter some official who confiscates and destroys your betta in spite of regulations. You might be jailed or fined in spite of following all the rules because they can change and your permits can be rescinded and the government has no obligation to inform you. The incident below was in Brazil, which is not Venezuela, but a well known European scientist Heiko Bleher did all the advance preparations for his trip to study Brazilian fish, got all the permits and everything. One Brazilian scientist objected after the fact to the study when it was nearly complete and Bleher was ready to return home. The permits were retroactively voided, and Bleher was put in jail in Brazil. it cost a fortune in Euros to get him out of jail and returned to Europe and much of the scientific research was lost.

sorry but think you may have quarantine problems with wanting to take your fish home for the holidays, may want to check the airlines conditions etc re: pet travel, may be best to ask a friend to look after you betta (you know they are easy to care for) if that don't work ask you pet store if they know of anyone who will look after your fish for you.
