I have a friend who is living in the U.S but is illegal but he has european nationality

I have a friend who is living in the U.S but is illegal but he has european nationality?
He is Venezuelan, his father is Italian so he has European nationality. He lived in Venezuela for years but at 20 he moved to the United States, with a tourist passport that expired, and he has been living illegally in the United States. My question is: He wants to visit me in Puerto Rico which is American territory, if he comes here supposedly he will stay stuck here for 10 years, and can't go back to the U.S. If he has European nationality but is illegal in the U.S how can he come to Puerto Rico safely without any legal problems? He tells me that he miss the chance to be illegal because at a certain age he had the opportunity to get the papers but he didn't, and his brother did who is currently 22. Can he lived in Italy for a while and come visit me? Thanks. living illegaly for 4 years, he is 24 now. He just wants to visit me in Puerto Rico that is all he wants.

Illegal by any other name is still illegal. His "european" nationality has absolutely NOTHING to do with his being illegal, and will cut him NO breaks whatsoever. He needs to GO HOME now. If you decide to marry him, maybe you can sponsor him. Maybe he has a U.S. citizen relative who can do it. For now, send him HOME and you can visit him there. The longer he stays, the harder it will be for him to legalize his status later on. If you've read the news reports, SCAMnesty is dead. The American people have spoken.

Who cares what his ancestry is or if he is from Venezuela or England, the word illegal explains everything anyone needs to know.

So you're saying because he is European he should be allowed to stay here as an illegal?? That makes no sense!

Your friend should check the laws on that. As long as his ancestry of Italian can be traced to the grandparents or his parents then he should be fine, and will be able to immigrate to Italy with citizenship. He should look into EU immigration laws as Italy is an EU country, and getting an EU passport shouldn't be hard once he is an Italian citizen. You would be surprised, but Americans live in Canada, and many EU countries illegally. But only because officials tend to look the other way when its a American, Canadian, or Japanese citizen living within the EU illegally. Seeing that he is from Venezuela they will most definitely not look the other way and look into his papers. So he needs to seek a way to get legalized in Italy. It isn't worth getting legal status in the US as it is extremely backed up and very expensive... He should also look into getting a Canadian citizenship or residency although that system is also backed up and a bit fatigued at the moment. Tell your friend to look into immigration laws of all the other developed nations..

He needs to be picked up by INS and shipped back to Hugo-ville OK look he may be a nice guy or what ever but the bottom line he is here in this country without proper papers so you will not get sympathy from me. Look my wife is a foreign national and she has been in this country for over 20yrs with her valid green card. I am a ret navy man here so you should be ashamed of yourself for even to bring this up especially with the way things are today. If you and this guy are lovers cool but look dude he has to legal get your act together before he gets deported.

Well I do not understand the part about him getting stuck being the PR is a common wealth. How will he get stuck; he does not need anymore than if he was flying to Georgia or Florida. Perhaps some Europeans do have an easier time of becoming citizens; they are probably recruited at this moment in time. He is still hispanic and will only be seen as a person from Venezuela who overstayed his welcome. He needs to contact a Catholic organization that helps illegals because he has an excellent chance of getting his papers. Tell him not to let the hype on the media scare him!

if he is single just tell him to find a chick and marry her, get the green card and once he is in safe grounds divorce her. Or a nicer way tell the chick of the intentions some will cooperate for a decent amount of money. Many people are gonna dislike my answer but oh well

Mush as you like him and want him to visit, if he is illegal, he is illegal. It makes no difference what his background is or his ancestors. Sorry to seem harsh but he needs to be deported just like every other illegal in the USA today. Maybe if he goes home, he can then come to visit you legally at a later date.

If you friend has no immediate family tides in the U.S. it is going to be very difficult for him to be in the U.S. legal. He will have to marry a U.S. Citizen and work from there. There are many variables as to how did he enter. Did he use the Visa Waiver Program or did he enter using a Visa. Does he have documentation that he entered legally in the U.S.? Good luck any way!!!
