You can live quite well for $1500 a month. BUT...living on the island, like living on all islands, is more expensive because everything is brought in by boat and the fuel cost adds to the total cost. If you live higher you will have to pay. If you want cable TV and broadband and a daily maid, things like that, your expense will be double that.
