Question about Labor Practices/Employment in Venezuela...?
I have heard that in Venezuela, it is required to sign a contract with your boss to work, and the normal length required is 6 months. For example, If I lived in Venezuela, and wanted to work in a retail store or marketplace (something low-skilled), would I have to sign a contract with whomever I would work for stating that I would work for them for a specific time period, and that I could not break my contractual obligation without severe penalty? Also, how hard would it be for someone to get a job in Venezuela (as in a Native in Venezuela finding menial work)? Please no sarcastic responses. Thanks for any help.

Yes thats true, you have 6 month of ''proof'' to see if you qualify for the job, if the employees consider you are doing good, he could renew the contract for 6 motnhs more, after this, if you keep being capable, the employee must send you to the ''nominee employees'' which are the permanent workers. the other situation is when you dont qualify for the job inside the 6 months testing period, the employee can not renew the contract, brake up, and you must find another job.
