Does a newborn baby need a passport to travel internationally?
I am an American citizen living in Venezuela. My wife is from Peru...our son was born in Venezuela 2 months ago and has his Venezuelan birth cert...can he accompany me to the states? or must I first obtain an American passport for him?

If your child is a Venezuela citizen he need a passaport from the country of birth. Just to be sure call the american embassy as well.But i know for sure he will need a passaport. Hope this will help

He needs an american passport. Sorry- I know it's a pain, but you'll need to go to the embassy and fill out all the paperwork.

You have to get him a passport. I'm a military spouse living in Germany, they always have commercials on about this. Start the process immediately because it can take months to get a passport once you have applied for it. Is your son considered an American citizen, or Venezuelan? His passport will have to be from the country he is a citizen of. If he's American then I think you'll have to go to the closest US Embassy to apply for his passport, make sure you call them first so you know what all you need to bring with you, usually you have to pay with a money order, plus you'll have to already have his passport photos with you when you go to apply.

but of course, do you realize how many folks try to pass themselves as new borns these days? WHATEVER! really though you do, however , he is from venzeuela and has to get a passport from there, later he can become an american or have dual citizenship,then again with that little problem with chavez the horrible, i really can't say about the dualism availability. but i'd hurry up and either make the child a perunian or an american, before the american decider cowboy changes the immagration laws over nite and in pencil...
