What is the cost of living in Caracas, Venezuela

What is the cost of living in Caracas, Venezuela.?
I'm interested in establishing myself in Caracas for about 3 months. I live pretty frugally here in the US, and I expect to continue this lifestyle abroad. I am trying to get an idea of the costs though. Rent for a studio/1BR in a reasonably safe area. utilities, internet, mobile phone. groceries monthly public transport pass, taxis, etc. entertainment, etc. FOLLOW UP: OK. After some more research I've decided against Caracas. The city may be a little too big and unstable for my tastes. Most of the apartment listings I am finding online are listed at 2500 - 3000 BsF per month. How does the average Venezuelan afford this? How does does the cost of living compare in some of the secondary cities? For example: Valencia or Puerto la Cruz. Is there a demand for English teachers/tutors in VE? I'm more interested in private tutoring as opposed to teaching at a school? What hourly rate can I realistically charge for this? Thank You

Studio would be around 700 BF in safe are, But not sure since its so hard to find places in Caracas now days. Utilities depends on you, Internet with good speed around 90 BF, Mobile phone around 50 BF really depends on you. Groceries this its the tricky part nowdays in Venezuela. Transport its on of the cheapest one in the World Since Gas Prices. Entertainment its cheap such thing as Movies are a the same time as the USA And to go to the movies its cost 12 BF max (Ticket Popcorn Drinks) The Cinemas are one the nicest one In South America, Satellite Tv and cable its cheap too and you migth get a deal with your internet Provider. Also in Venezuela we Have the biggest Shopping centers until 2010 that when Panama opens her big Shpping center. Small towns could have about 4 shopping centers. Hope I helped, Just watch out for the Crime is the only bad thing about our Country. (Along with a other Person)

There is a big demand for English tutoring, since everybody wants to learn the language. I have no idea how much you can charge per hour. Valencia and Puerto La Cruz are just as expensive, if not more. I would suggest Merida, it's pretty and afforadable.
