My whole family is moving out from Venezuela to the US, can I get some Advice?
Hi there, Well I just got the news from my Parents that we are moving to the US. The situation in Venezuela is just getting worst and the president is converting Venezuela into Cuba. My parents lost their company 2Years ago thanks to the government who is Nationalising every private company, since he is a Dictator and Communist. Recently they have created a new company, which could be Very succesfull, but imagine having the perfect idea and putting it to practice and seeing that its a hit, but then your scared of growing because you know sooner or later the country will take out your company. So my parents just desided we have to get out of there. My dad: 52, my Mom: 51, My sister: 22 and myself: 18 years old. I'm really scared. Starting a new life is not easy. We are not rich, we are middle class, but nothing close to rich. My father and mother will have to go to US for 1 year to make residency and then I will be able to stay and so as my sister. (i currently study in london). What can we do to earn money in the US? What can we do to start a new life? Any advice? I know its going to be supper hard, but thats how it is...:S I feel so deppresed. I have lived in Venezuela for my entire life and have family and friends there. I haved lived before in the US for over a Year when I was 8 yearls old. My family came here because the company of my father was contacted by a big company located in the US for business enquiries. But yeah, then the Government years after just took over it because they want to without any reason, thats how Dictators are, leaving my whole family without anything. Thanks for the kind replys, this is a very hard time in my life and I really do need support and be strong to start again in a new life, in a new place.

I can understand that this must be a scary time, but at the same time I am very excited for you and your family. My father left Hungary as it was falling to the Communists; he was 13 and his father was 37, and they came here with almost nothing. He went on to start a real estate business, his brother started a meat packing business, and they have many successful grandchildren. Your family has a strong drive to succeed, and the entrepreneurial spirit they show is highly valued here. It will no doubt be difficult, but the opportunities that you and your sister will have will be so much greater than in Venezuela (where I think things will keep getting worse for some time to come). I am excited for you!

You already know the language, so you're ahead of millions of other people. Be glad you're getting out of Venezuela before the purges really get started. I figure that's coming soon. What you can do to earn money in the US? Pretty much the same you do anywhere else. As long as you do it well (and have the luck to get a job in the first place, in this economy) you'll be fine. Despite what they have probably told you in London, we're not all ignorant racist savages over here. Good luck.
